Maria Stephens

Ms. Stephens has over 18 years of public and private sector experience as a senior level international development and finance technical advisor and program manager. Upon completion of her graduate studies, Ms. Stephens was selected to serve as a Presidential Management Intern and Financial Economist in the U.S. Treasury Department’s Federal Finance Policy Analysis unit. In this role, Ms. Stephens was selected to serve on the President’s Task Force on Derivatives which, immediately following the Orange County financial crisis of 1994, undertook a comprehensive assessment of the potential for systemic risk brought on by sudden market moves resulting from derivatives transactions. She and the team of senior experts developed the basis for a regulatory response to these risks. In addition to this work, Ms. Stephens was selected to serve on a team that overhauled the U.S. Savings Bond Program. Ms. Stephens later served as a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Agency for International Development, where she managed microfinance and trade programming at USAID’s mission in Nairobi. Ms. Stephens served for three years as Director of Catholic Relief Service’s Microfinance Unit, and acted as lead technical consultant on assignments with Chemonics and World Vision prior to embarking on providing extensive microfinance technical support to GTZ in China. Prior to rejoining USAID last year, Ms. Stephens acted as Team Leader on two separate long-term projects with GTZ and the People’s Bank of China, both of which led to the development of mainland China’s first private sector microcredit institution. In her current position with USAID’s Microenterprise Development Office, Ms. Stephens is a subject matter expert on regulatory issues related to mobile banking financial services and building microfinance institutional and human resource back office capacity to integrate front end technologies into MFI operations. Ms. Stephens also manages USAID’s first program that will support the integration of consumer protection principles into MFIs internal controls and overall operations. Ms. Stephens is a contributing author of Measuring Performance of Microfinance Institutions: A Framework for Reporting, Analyzing, and Monitoring (2005), which remains the microfinance industry’s leading financial reporting tool, and she is a member of the Small Enterprise and Educational Promotion (SEEP) Network’s steering committee overseeing the current revision of that tool. Ms. Stephens holds a B.A. (Hons) in Greek and Latin from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a M.A. in International Economics and Chinese from the Johns Hopkins University’s Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies.

Rolf von Roessing, Vice President, ISACA International, Germany

ISACA International Vice President Rolf von Roessing, CISA, CISM, CGEIT, is a retired partner and now executive advisor at KPMG Germany, and holds nonexecutive directorships in several security consulting companies in Germany. In addition to working at KPMG, he has experience in large international banks and insurance companies, where he was responsible for business continuity management and information security. He is a former board member of the Business Continuity Institute (BCI), where he served from 2001-2008, and was chair of the BCI's Audit Committee from 2003-2008.

Von Roessing joined ISACA's Security Management Committee in 2005. He chaired the working group for ITGI's IT Control Objectives for Basel II publication and is currently a member of ISACA's Framework Committee.

Lisa C. Dawson

Ms. Dawson has over 20 years of public and private sector experience as a senior financial intelligence analyst and international financial operations manager.  Prior to joining Booz Allen Hamilton’s Center for Financial Intelligence as an Associate in 2009, Ms. Dawson served withthe Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) under the auspices of Department of Treasury’s Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence. There she led her strategic analytic team in earning theDirector’s Team Award for their research manuals, which are used by intelligence and law enforcement agencies nationwide. Ms. Dawson
combined a lead analytical and liaison role in the project identification, proposal, development, and implementation of payment studies and initiatives in subject matter expertise on alternative and illicit payment systems to combat anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT).

She is a subject matter expert on information and communications technologies (ICTs) and the convergence with financial services, as well as developing a sophisticated understanding of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) analytical techniques. Ms. Dawson also worked in international banking operations and for a non-profit investment company as compliance manager throughout Central Asia. She earned an MA degree in Russian Area Studies from Georgetown University and studied at Michigan State University, where she was awarded BA degrees in International Relations and the Russian Language.

Matunda Nyamchama


Matunda Nyanchama is a Director and Principal Consultant at Agano Consulting Inc., a Toronto-based IT consulting company. Matunda has more than 12 years experience in Information Security has held several senior positions in various industries, including IT Services, Banking Sector, Consulting, Public Sector and Academia. He has designed and taught university courses in Information Security, including in the Masters of Information Technology Security program of the University of Ontario Institute Of Technology (UOIT), Ontario, Canada. Matunda is a regular speaker in ICT Security & Risk Management forums and conferences.

Dr Nyanchama holds Masters and Doctoral degrees in Computer Science and a Bsc in Electrical Engineering. He has presented on many subjects on information security and written about information security metrics. He has published a number of security management papers, including co-authoring a chapter in the Information Security Management Handbook (5ed), a key reference Guide for the CISSP exams.

Jason Finlayson

Jason Finlayson is a Director with Security Risk Solutions Ltd. Prior to this he was a leader in Ernst & Young’s East Africa Security and Risk Services division, and before that, a senior Information Warfare officer, responsible for strategic Information Operations for the Royal Australian Air Force. Over the course of his time in Africa, he has worked with many clients in all industries, across the full spectrum of Information Security, Enterprise Risk and Business Continuity service lines. He is industry certified with the CISSP, ISSMP, CISA, and MBCI, along with Masters and Bachelors academic qualifications.
